Overview

Human Harmonies programs are based on low-impact movements from internal martial arts (or healing arts) such as Tai Chi, QiGong and Bagua. Our programs are designed to help individuals reach their health and fitness goals, while taking into account each person’s unique physical needs and abilities. The mind/body benefits reported from practicing these healing arts is supported by a large body of scientific evidence and clinical studies. (See our Resources page for more information.)

What is QiGong?

QiGong is a centuries-old system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed by the Chinese and throughout Asia as a practice to cultivate and balance qi, or “life energy”.

QiGong practice typically includes coordinating movement, breathwork, visualization and meditation as an integrated practice. People practice qigong throughout China and worldwide for recreation, exercise, relaxation, preventive medicine, healing, meditation, self-cultivation, and training for martial arts.

The Qi Fit Program

The Qi Fit program is a restoration program that focuses on Qi Gong movement and breath work. The Qi Gong that we teach is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist principles based on the five elements. The goal of this program is to improve stability, flexibility, mobility and overall health and well-being. The movements taught in the Qi Fit program follow the seasons and the five element protocol. These movements are appropriate for adults with a wide range of physical abilities, and is a good entry point for individuals with significant health or physical concerns.

Many participants report health improvements within a short period of time, and choose to further their development with the Body Awakening and Full Body programs.
